TIME FOR SHARING GOOD NEWS . . .

Do you have good news to share?

Have you heard from an agent? Sold a book? A magazine article? Has your child actually remembered to hang up her wet towel?

Whatever your good news . . . it's time to shout it from the rooftops or, in this case, the blogtops!

Post your good news in the comment section below. Let's read and celebrate each other's good news.

On October 30th, one comment will be selected at random, and that person will receive an autographed copy of HOW TO SURVIVE MIDDLE SCHOOL . . . to donate to the school, library or organization of his or her choice.

Let the good news roll . . .

Just got a great review from School Library Journal for
my latest book, Ocean Commotion: Life on the Reef!

Janeen, that was a GREAT review. I love where the reviewer said your art POPS right off the page. Congrats!

I love the sharing-good-news idea! My good news is that, despite the fender bender that delayed my trip, I still got to go to a wonderful family reunion this weekend to visit with relatives I had not seen for years.

Heidi,
Sorry to read about your fender bender. Very happy to read about your family reunion.
Sounds delightful!

Hi,Donna. We met briefly at the Erma Bombeck Writer's Workshop.

Three of my humorous poems (for adults, but G-rated) were published in the October issue of the literary ezine danse macabre.

What a wonderful idea for a blog, Donna!

I feel like I am bursting with good news. At the top of the list is that I am surrounded by so many wonderful friends who have made me feel so loved as I reach the milestone age of 50 tomorrow!

Other good news is that I had two new picture books released this fall, 1 + 1 = 5 AND OTHER UNLIKELY ADDITIONS, and MINNESOTA'S HIDDEN ALPHABET. Also my picture book THE BEST PET OF ALL is going to be produced by the Paul Mesner Puppet Theater in Kansas City in November and I get to fly down for the opening night performance.

And it's pumpkin carving season!

What a fortunate man I am!

Can't wait to surprise my blog readers with your fabulous Halloween guest post! It will be a real treat.
All good wishes, my friend,
Donna

Hi Donna!

What a great way to start off the week--sharing all this great news! My happy news is that I just sold a new project! Whee! From Publisher's Lunch:

"R. L. LaFevers' trio of YA romantic historical fantasies focusing on teen girl assassins in 15th century France--starting with DARK MERCY in spring 2012 and followed by DARK JUSTICE and DARK HOPE in spring 2013 and spring 2014--each focusing on a different assassin trained at a convent serving the god of death himself, to Kate O'Sullivan at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, in a preempt, in a good deal, by Erin Murphy."

I know dark assassins and romance might not seem like they go together, but they do, trust me.

And I have now proved just what lengths I will go to to fatten up my local library shelves. :-)

My ebook, Summoning, went live for sale on 10/10/10! http://www.amazon.com/Summoning-ebook/dp/B0046LV9GI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=AG56TWVU5XWC2&s=digital-text&qid=1288068669&sr=1-1

And on the family front, by littlest will turn 6 years old on Thursday, and a gaggle of 15 little girls will attack my home for her party tomorrow. (Wish me luck!)

Yowza! Good news galore.
Jody, my first children's sale was to Highlights. Congrats on selling two poems; may it be just the beginning.
Jenn, that's so exciting. I love kayaking. And I'll see you at Janeen's pre-pub party.
Robin, you totally rock, not just for your fabulous deal, but for all you do to give back!
Debi, congrats on your e-book and good luck with the party. Have fun!

I love this idea! Congrats on all the good news, everyone! My tiny bit of news this week is that I found my debut novel will be coming out in Sept! I can't believe it's less than a year away! Exclamation point! :-)

Wild About Words said...

Anna,
That is exciting news, worthy of several exclamation points!!! September will be here before you know it. Can you tell us the title of your debut novel and maybe a bit about it?
All best,
Donna

Donna, What fun to read everyone's good news and share mine. My latest non-fiction picture book, GOING HOME, THE MYSTERY OF ANIMAL MIGRATION received wonderful reviews over the past few months in SLJ, BOOKLIST, KIRKUS and others, and won the following awards: 2010 Moonbeam Children’s Book Gold Award for best juvenile non-fiction picture book, Green Book Festival Honor Award, and
Izaak Walton League Book of the Year Award for elementary grades.

Remember when I shared this manuscript with the critique group a few years ago? Did I ever dream it would do so well? Teachers are using it for “Readers Theater” too! So exciting!

Wild About Words said...

Marianne, that is absolutely wonderful news! Thanks for sharing.

Congrats to all here!

I'm still chuffed I signed with John Rudolph of Dystel & Goderich Literary Management. We're looking at the submission of my MG fantasy novel very soon.

Wild About Words said...

IanBontems,
You are in good hands! John Rudolph was one of the first book editors to offer me encouragement on my early efforts in this literary journey.
Best of luck to you both!
