OLIVIA BEAN, TRIVIA QUEEN BIG BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!

Join the celebration as OLIVIA BEAN, TRIVIA QUEEN comes out in paperback!

Available at your local bookseller and online.

We're celebrating all week by GIVING!!!

Growing up, my favorite book was . . .

I never owned a copy until I was an adult, because we couldn't afford to buy books when I was a kid.  I'd borrow it from the Northeast Regional Library of Philadelphia again and again.

That's why I'm so excited that OLIVIA BEAN, TRIVIA QUEEN is now available in paperback!  It means this fun story of a determined girl to accept her family and reach her dream against all odds will get into more young hands.

If you're thinking of buying a copy, won't you consider donating it to a young reader, a local elementary or middle school, a public library, a children's hospital or a children's literacy organization?

If you want to make a bigger impact, how about providing a copy for every 4th, 5th or 6th grade student at a Title I school?  (Bonus good karma if you support your local indie bookseller with your purchase.)

Thank you in advance for your support!

Now, it's my turn to GIVE!

Because I'm passionate about opportunities to get kids reading, I will donate $200.00 to a children's literacy-based organization.

YOU will choose which one gets the cash . . .

1.  RIF -- Reading is Fundamental.  RIF's highest priority is reaching under-served children from birth to age 8.

2.  FIRST BOOK -- Their programs provide access to new books for children in need.

3.  REACH OUT AND READ --  Promotes early literacy through books given out by thousands of pediatricians in all 50 states.

4.  IF I CAN READ, I CAN DO ANYTHING --  A national reading club for Native American children.

5.  THE READING CONNECTION -- Dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children and families by helping them create literacy-rich environments and motivation for reading.

6.  KIDS NEED TO READ -- Provides inspiring books to underfunded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children.

PLEASE CAST YOUR VOTE for one of these six organizations in the comments section.  (The organization with the most votes will get the $200.00.)

And drop by Friday, when a BIG GIVEAWAY will be announced!!!

Amazing Addendum:  Within an hour of this blog post, an educator from a Title I school in Orlando, who understands firsthand how important it is to get books into kids' hands, decided to match the $200 donation to one of these six organizations.  So vote, people.  Vote!  (Thank you S.R. for your generosity.  You inspire me . . . and made me cry a little.)

As if you could get any cooler, now you're doing this?! You are my idol! :) I can't choose! They're all amazing. I'm going with Reach out and Read because my friend works at the Central Ohio one and they're so cool, but all of them are more than worthy. I LOVED RIF's PSA with all the characters!

Much book love!

I'm casting my vote with First Book, because I know they do great work at getting books into the hands of kids who don't have them. They are all worthy organizations, so you can't go wrong with whoever gets the most votes. This is so cool that you're doing this Donna. I'm going to put up a post on my website to encourage readers to come here and get a copy of Olivia Bean in paperback.

Donna, that is super news about the paperback edition. It means even more kids will enjoy your talent. My vote for the Big Birthday Celebration is offered in support of "IF I CAN READ, I CAN DO ANYTHING." I've always been partial to Native American children and all they have to offer this great country of ours. They were the guardians of wonderful stories long before people from other continents arrived here. And you know how much I love old stories well-told.

I vote for Reading Connection. I work with kids at risk and I know first hand just how much a little thing like someone sending them a card or, in this case, giving them a brand new book means. You are doing a wonderful thing, Donna! I would actually happy with any group getting the books! I pre-ordered Olivia through Amazon for my granddaughter. Now I know I could have ordered it through you. Next time!! I promise!!

Congrats, Donna!

All of these are such great choices. I vote for If I Can Read I Can Do Anything.

Congrats, Donna! Olivia deserves all the love she's getting, and so do you! Bless you, for your generosity!

I'm voting for #3. I've experienced this program first hand, because when my kids visited the pediatrician for certain milestone appointments, they each received a free book. I love the idea of putting books in the chubby little hands of children who may never get a book any other way, so that one gets my vote.

You are wonderful! What a kind thing to do. :) It's so hard to pick just one, but I vote for #5. When I was a kid, I went through some hard times and reading was my safe haven. I love that there is a charity that focuses on this. :)

CONGRATS on the paperback release!

It's so hard to pick just one organization for the $200.00 donation vote. I decided to put all the numbers in a hat and draw out one for my vote. I drew out #2, so my vote is for FIRST BOOK.

First all, you are amazing for doing this. Any of these organizations would appreciate it. All of them need it. I do love the First Book program so that gets my vote. I have a few copies of your book in my office. I'd like to donate them to your library. Email me the address.

Congratulations and great promotion! I'm a fan of KIDS NEED TO READ, of course, because Nathan Fillion is awesomeness on legs.

As a fellow part-time resident of the Northeast Regional Library in Philly I would like to add $25 to the total for which ever group wins the vote. My token contribution of $25 is probably what my cumulative late-fees were for books I had trouble returning.
